This lunchtime concert is part of Manchester Camerata’s ongoing The Monastery Series of intimate chamber performances hosted at the orchestra’s home, The Monastery, in Gorton, Manchester. Curated by Leader and Artistic Curator Caroline Pether and supported by Classic FM, the series offers relaxed, one-hour escapes pairing beloved repertoire with contemporary or lesser-heard works. This programme for string quartet opens with Lili Boulanger’s Nocturne in an arrangement by Will Newell, continues with Maurice Ravel’s radiant String Quartet in F Major, and closes with Osvaldo Golijov’s contemplative Tenebrae. The musicians are drawn from the Manchester Camerata.
