Music Director Gábor Takács-Nagy conducts and Leader Caroline Pether is featured as violin soloist in Vaughan Williams' The Lark Ascending, one of the most frequently performed British works for violin and orchestra. The programme moves from an English meadow evoked by Vaughan Williams to a bustling city scene in Mozart's "Prague" Symphony before returning to the countryside for Beethoven's "Pastoral" Symphony, with its depiction of open landscapes, flowing water, birdsong, a peasant gathering, a thunderstorm, and a song of thanksgiving. The concert is staged at Stoller Hall, Manchester Camerata's regular city-centre venue in partnership with Chetham's School of Music, and is recommended by Classic FM.
