Vox Luminis, the Belgium-based early music ensemble founded in 2004 and directed by bass Lionel Meunier, performs Claudio Monteverdi's monumental Vespro della Beata Vergine (SV 206/206a) as part of Early Music Seattle's 2026–27 Beyond Baroque Season. The concert pairs Vox Luminis with the acoustics of St. James Cathedral, a venue well-suited to the polychoral writing, instrumental accompaniment, echo effects, virtuosic solo passages and contrasting textures that characterize the score. The program is part of Vox Luminis's North American tour of Monteverdi's Vespers that also includes stops in Austin (TX), San Diego (CA), and Montreal (QC) during November 2026.
