Conductor Rodolfo Barráez and trumpet soloist Pacho Flores join the Kristiansand Symphony Orchestra for a one-evening program that bridges Latin American color and European Romantic virtuosity. Both artists are alumni of Venezuela’s El Sistema, and bring energetic musicianship and social vision to the stage. The concert opens with Inocente Carreño’s vivid Venezuelan postcard Margariteña (1954), moves to Arturo Márquez’s Concierto de Otoño (2018) for trumpet and orchestra, and features Pablo de Sarasate’s Zigeunerweisen (1878) in a dazzling trumpet transcription that showcases Flores’s command. After the interval, Márquez’s beloved Danzón No. 2 (1994) leads to Alberto Ginastera’s Variaciones concertantes (1953), a brilliantly crafted orchestral showpiece. Presented within KSO’s subscription series, the concert lasts about 1 hour and 40 minutes including an intermission, with tickets priced NOK 160–465.
