Paganini_1 – Teatro Carlo Felice, Genoa

About this event

This symphonic concert, part of the 2026/2027 season of the Fondazione Teatro Carlo Felice in Genoa, brings together two major works of the Romantic repertoire. The evening opens with Niccolò Paganini's Violin Concerto No. 2 in B minor, Op. 7, popularly known as "La campanella" for the delicate little bell motif that runs through its finale. The program concludes with Hector Berlioz's Symphonie fantastique, Op. 14, one of the most important programmatic symphonies of the 19th century, in which the composer traces an autobiographical narrative through five movements. The performance features the Orchestra of the Carlo Felice Theater Foundation in Genoa under the direction of Spanish conductor Jordi Bernàcer, with American violinist Kevin Zhu as soloist. Kevin Zhu first came to international attention in 2018 when he won first prize at the Paganini International Violin Competition, which was held at the Teatro Carlo Felice itself.
