Mahler Chamber Orchestra – Musiikkitalo, Helsinki

About this event

The Mahler Chamber Orchestra brings with it a repertoire of lovingly arranged folk songs, a musical wedding anniversary gift, and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s cheerful clarinet quintet. “When I work with folk music, I am always caught by the thrill of discovery.” Modernist composer Luciano Berio collected folk songs from old records, sheet music collections, and folk musicians and incorporated them into gentle accompaniments for the instrumental ensemble. Dumbarton Oaks is Igor Stravinsky’s wedding anniversary gift to the owner and hostess of the house of the same name, American patrons of the arts Robert and Mildred Bliss.
