About this event
Saxophonist Soran Lind invites the audience into the saxophone's golden age — roughly 1920–1950, when the instrument truly found its place in classical music. Drawing on the French repertoire, in which virtuosos such as Marcel Mule commissioned and premiered new works and elevated the saxophone's artistic standing, the programme pairs celebrated pieces by Georges Bizet and Darius Milhaud with hidden gems by Alfred Desenclos and Paule Maurice — the latter adding an important female-composer perspective. Lind is accompanied at the piano.
