About this event

Physical Verses is a professional workshop by choreographer Damien Jalet, developed in collaboration with Aimilios Arapoglou, and presented within the Berliner Festspiele Performing Arts Season 2026/2027. Aimed at professional dancers, performers and advanced movers, the session investigates the choreographic principles that inform Jalet’s stage work. Drawing on his artistic research, including the production Planet [wanderer], participants work with contrasting movement qualities and use intuition and personal background to develop and transform taught repertory phrases or their own ideas. These physical concepts and images then become material for composition and improvisation tasks. The workshop is designed for experienced practitioners ready to challenge and deepen their relationship to gravity through demanding, exploratory movement work. Hosted at Tanzfabrik Berlin (Uferstudios), with registration handled via Tanzfabrik’s workshop programme.
