Produced by the Romanian National Opera Cluj-Napoca for the 2026–2027 season, this Barber of Seville revives the house’s popular staging with sets by Anca Pintilie, lighting by Liviu Popa, and stage movement by Anca Opriș Popdan. Artistic Director Mihaela Sandu oversees the production. David Crescenzi conducts, with Corneliu Felecan leading the chorus. Set in 18th-century Seville with period visuals, the staging embraces the opera’s comic spirit—right down to the famous midnight balcony staircase. The resident Orchestra and Men’s Chorus power Rossini’s sparkling ensembles. Performed in Italian with Romanian surtitles, the evening runs about 2.5–3 hours including two intermissions and is recommended for ages 7+.
