Romanian National Opera Cluj-Napoca presents La Fille mal gardée as a comic ballet in two acts. Director-choreographer Vasile Solomon reimagines Jean Dauberval’s 1789 narrative, set to the familiar hybrid score drawn from Ferdinand Hérold and Peter Ludwig Hertel. The visual world is created by Dragoș Moldovan (sets and costumes), with choreographic preparation by assistant Dan Haja. The company’s orchestra and ballet ensemble perform under the musical direction of Vladimir Lungu. Family-friendly and lively, the performance lasts about two hours with one intermission and is recommended for ages 7+.
