About this event
A guest concert in the Great Hall of the Philharmonie Berlin presented by the Philharmonischer Chor Berlin with the Staatskapelle Halle as part of the orchestra’s “Staatskapelle auf Reisen” tour series. Under the musical direction of Florian Benfer, the programme pairs a Mozart Mass in C minor with Arvo Pärt’s Te Deum. The presenter’s note highlights that Mozart’s C‑minor Mass was conceived as a private vow for Constanze, with soprano solos tailored to her voice, and—together with the unfinished Requiem—counts among his most significant sacred works, uniting Baroque festive splendour with the depth of Viennese Classicism. Pärt’s Te Deum (1984/85, rev. 2007) is written for three spatially separated choirs, prepared piano, string orchestra and wind‑harp tape. Its radical simplicity conceals great sensuousness and places high interpretive demands on the performers. The event is a choral‑orchestral concert without staging.
