About this event
The concert, part of NOSPR’s season theme “Music in the Age of Narratives,” juxtaposes two works that layer stories onto sound. Jacob Druckman’s late-20th-century orchestral piece Prism opens the evening, explicitly placed in the lineage of Luciano Berio’s Sinfonia by overlaying original writing onto fragments from operas by Charpentier, Cavalli, and Cherubini. After the interval, Christian Arming conducts Mozart’s Requiem in D minor, K. 626—an archetypal work whose commission history, completion after Mozart’s death, and surrounding legends have generated a powerful mythology. NOSPR is joined by the Prague Philharmonic Choir and four soloists (soprano, alto, tenor, bass). The same program is given on consecutive evenings within NOSPR’s Thursday (S1) and Friday (S2) subscription cycles in the Concert Hall in Katowice.
