About this event

Joe Hisaishi returns to Europe in autumn 2026 with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra (RPO), for which he has served as Composer-in-Association since 2024. This is a symphony-and-piano concert rather than a staged production: Hisaishi both conducts and appears as solo pianist, leading the RPO in a programme pairing his Symphonic Suite from the Oscar-winning 2023 Studio Ghibli film The Boy and the Heron with the European premiere of his new Concerto for Orchestra. The Berlin date is a guest event at the Philharmonie Berlin (Großer Saal), presented by external promoter Konzertdirektion Hans Adler with the Berliner Philharmoniker Foundation acting as venue partner. The Berlin stop shares the same programme as the German/Swiss tour cities (Munich, Lucerne, Stuttgart, Hamburg). Doors 19:00; performance 20:00; one 25-minute interval; end approx. 22:00.
