This concert is presented by the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin as a guest event at the Philharmonie Berlin. The DSO handles presenting and ticketing; the Berliner Philharmoniker Foundation serves only as venue host. The Rundfunkchor Berlin collaborates on the program. The evening links four Psalm settings born of very different contexts: Lili Boulanger’s final works under the pressures of World War I and illness, Stravinsky’s late turn back to the Russian Orthodox Church, and Bernstein’s personal engagement with his Jewish heritage. Former DSO chief conductor Ingo Metzmacher leads; mezzo-soprano Catriona Morison appears in Boulanger’s Du fond de l’abîme, and a soloist from the Staats- und Domchor Berlin sings the boy’s solo in Bernstein’s Chichester Psalms. Chorus preparation by Martina Batic. A pre-concert talk begins at 19:15; reduced-price tickets at the evening box office cost 10 EUR.
