About this event

Jupiter / Dunford is a period-instrument concert devoted entirely to the music of John Dowland (c.1563–1626), commemorating the 400th anniversary of his death. Part of the Wiener Konzerthausgesellschaft’s “Originalklang” subscription in the 2026/27 season, the programme surveys Dowland’s lute songs (ayres), consort songs and instrumental pavans/galliards. The flexible French-led early-music collective Ensemble Jupiter appears with lutenist and musical director Thomas Dunford, joined by a four-voice consort: soprano Mélissa Petit, countertenor Hugh Cutting, tenor Thomas Hobbs and bass-baritone Florian Störtz. A five-part viol consort (Myriam Rignol, Clémence Schiltz, Mathilde Vialle, Etienne Floutier, Nicholas Milne) partners the voices and undertakes the instrumental items. The Mozart-Saal of the Wiener Konzerthaus provides an intimate acoustic ideal for Dowland’s chamber textures. Standard chamber pricing applies (€29–€73).
