About this event

A single-evening tribute concert at the Vienna Konzerthaus celebrates the symphonic legacy of Wayne Shorter. Programmed within the Jazz series and the 2026/27 Großer Saal subscription, the event presents six orchestral works by Shorter, each marked as a first performance (EA) at the Konzerthaus. Esperanza Spalding leads an all-star quartet with Terri Lyne Carrington, Leo Genovese, and Tineke Postma, while Clark Rundell conducts the Tonkünstler Orchestra of Lower Austria. The concert, structured in two halves with intermission, highlights Shorter’s transformation of jazz ideas into orchestral form and his decades-long influence from Art Blakey and Miles Davis to Weather Report.
