About this event

Presented by the Wiener Konzerthausgesellschaft as part of its chamber music series in the Mozart-Saal, this duo recital unites percussionist Vivi Vassileva and pianist Frank Dupree in their touring programme "Face to Face." Across roughly two hours, the concert explores the dialogue between tuned percussion (marimba, vibraphone and auxiliary percussion) and grand piano. The programme spans 20th- and 21st-century styles: Ravel’s impressionism, Gershwin’s stage idiom and Corea’s jazz alongside contemporary works by Deleruyelle, Psathas, Liu and Mayrhofer. Frank Dupree performs both as pianist and as arranger of Péter Eötvös’s Speaking Drums in a version for percussion and piano heard here. The event is a pure recital without staging or theatrical production elements, reflecting the Konzerthaus’s Kammermusik focus and Vassileva’s ongoing presence within its percussion programming. The concert runs from approximately 19:30 to 21:30 with an intermission.
