About this event
The 13 October 2026 event is the second installment in the Wiener Konzerthaus’s 2026/27 Film + Musik live cycle, pairing classic silent cinema with newly commissioned live scores in the Großer Saal. For this program, the Vienna-based jazz trio Mario Rom’s Interzone—Mario Rom (trumpet), Lukas Kranzelbinder (double bass), and Herbert Pirker (drums)—has composed an original instrumental score to accompany a screening of Louis Feuillade’s 1913 serial crime film Fantômas, Part 2: Juve contre Fantômas (German: Juve gegen Fantômas). Presented by the Wiener Konzerthausgesellschaft, with the film print supplied by Gaumont, this production marks the world premiere (Uraufführung) of the trio’s new score, performed live in sync with the projected film. It continues the Konzerthaus tradition of pairing historic silent film with contemporary music-making.
