Erik Bye (1926–2004) was a towering Norwegian cultural figure: a beloved radio and TV presenter and a major poet. He left behind a rich treasury of songs that remain part of Norway’s cultural heritage. Marking his centenary in 2026, this tribute concert brings together three artists closely tied to Bye’s musical world: his granddaughter and singer Marianne Bye Granheim, composer-pianist Henning Sommerro, and harmonica virtuoso Sigmund Groven. All three have deep, documented connections to Bye’s artistry. The concert is intimate and text-focused, designed as a one-hour chamber-style event within Kilden’s ‘Seniorkilden’ series. The repertoire highlights well-known songs such as “Vårherres klinkekule,” “Blå salme,” and “Vår beste dag,” presenting Bye’s lyrics in a narrative, close-up setting performed by family and longtime collaborators.
