Asbjørn Ribe is a Norwegian artist, songwriter, and producer who, according to the program note, combines beautiful melodies and songs with poetic, powerful lyrics in a way unlike anyone else in Norway. The concert in Kilden’s Multisalen marks a shift of format: after five years in a micro-format—intimate home concerts from Narvik in the north to Mandal in the south—he returns to larger stages. Built around a full band and backing vocalists, this is presented as the first opportunity in a long time to experience Ribe in the large-scale format that suits him best. It is not a solo piano recital but a stage setup with Ribe’s vocals and keyboards up front, supported by a small ensemble (bass, drums/percussion, guitar, keyboard, and choir). Sound design is by Lars Erik Humborstad, and the production is tailored to a fully equipped concert hall. Stylistically it sits between singer-songwriter traditions and pop/rock. Kilden lists the event as a Concert.
