For over ten years, soprano Marie-Laure Garnier and pianist Célia Oneto Bensaid have formed a duo devoted to the French mélodie and the German Lied, refining their artistry with Jeff Cohen and at the Académie Orsay–Royaumont. With Songs of Hope, they present an intercultural program that brings together mélodies by Messiaen, Poulenc, and Ravel with traditional Jewish songs and African American gospel spirituals. The recital explores the sacred, hope, and humanity’s great trials, advocating a message of tolerance and fraternity across cultures.
