About this event
This production presents Sergei Prokofiev’s symphonic fairy tale Peter and the Wolf as a puppet theatre piece for children and families aged five and up. Instead of a traditional orchestral concert, the work is staged visually on a historic 1877 crank-stage— a mechanical panorama stage where figures move across the scene. A trombonist both introduces the orchestra and narrates the story live, making the characters’ timbres and musical motifs tangible. The figures—Peter, the bird, the duck, the cat, the grandfather, and the wolf—were specially created for this format by Martina Berens. Director and puppetry artist Christian Fuchs serves as narrator and trombonist. The performance lasts 45 minutes and is tailored to young audiences.
