Het Concertgebouw’s Young Dutch Musicians series presents cellist Isaac Lottman in a self-curated chamber recital in the Recital Hall (Kleine Zaal). He appears in two duo pairings: first with his sister, violinist Yente Lottman, in Pēteris Vasks’s meditative Castillo Interior and Maurice Ravel’s tightly wrought Sonata in A minor; then with pianist Thijs Willers for the world premiere of a new work by Dutch composer Mathilde Wantenaar. The programme closes with Ravel’s Kaddish (from Deux mélodies hébraïques) in the widely performed arrangement for cello and piano. The series shines a spotlight on rising Dutch artists with a touch of theatricality; Lottman highlights his fondness for colourful French repertoire with its dreamy, ironic qualities. Approx. duration 110 minutes including intermission.
