Scherpdenkers: Geert Mak – Het Concertgebouw, Amsterdam

Scherpdenkers is a Het Concertgebouw series pairing a Dutch writer or public intellectual with a small ensemble for a themed evening in the Kleine Zaal. The format combines a substantial talk with a curated chamber music program illuminating the theme. There is no staging; the event is a seated chamber recital without intermission. Drinks are included, and the series forms part of the venue’s Keuzeserie Eigen Programmering. This edition, titled “America, a democracy saved,” tours within the same season to other Dutch halls with the same team: speaker Geert Mak, soprano Taylor Burgess, and pianist/arranger Ramon van Engelenhoven.
