About this event
The Netherlands Chamber Orchestra, renowned for Mozart and opera, performs Mozart’s Symphony No. 40 and ballet music from the opera Idomeneo. You will also hear Ivo Pogorelich—often hailed as “the greatest Chopin interpreter of our time”—in Chopin’s Piano Concerto No. 2. The orchestra rarely performs under a separate conductor, instead responding to each other with striking immediacy. This musical chemistry is evident in every concert. Gordan Nikolić has served as leader (concertmaster) of the Netherlands Chamber Orchestra since 2004. Founded in 1955, the ensemble retained its unique identity even after the 1985 merger with the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra. The concert is supported by Yakult.
