About this event

Duo Zeffiretti brings a recital by Israeli artists Maayan Licht (male soprano) and Guy Maori (harpsichord), both alumni of the Conservatorium van Amsterdam’s Early Music department. The duo takes its name from Vivaldi’s aria Zeffiretti che sussurate and won both the jury and audience prizes at the Grachtenfestival Competition in 2020. Their Concertgebouw program centers on virtuosic Baroque arias originally written for the famed castrati of the 17th and 18th centuries, interleaved with solo harpsichord works. The harpsichord is a modern Amsterdam-built replica in the Flemish Ruckers tradition, chosen for its rich color and dynamic nuance within historical performance practice. Licht, one of today’s rare male sopranos, combines historically informed style with a vivid, agile technique, highlighting the brilliance and dramatic force of Handel and Vivaldi. Scarlatti’s Sonata in A minor anchors the keyboard half of the evening, complementing the vocal arias’ theatrical flair.
