Presented in The Concertgebouw’s Sunday‑afternoon vocal series “Vocaal op Zondagmiddag”, this intimate recital in the Kleine Zaal unites late‑Romantic and early‑modern songs by Gabriel Fauré, Claude Debussy and Johannes Brahms. Dutch soprano Lenneke Ruiten appears with long‑standing duo partner pianist Thom Janssen. The programme frames four Fauré mélodies, Debussy’s Proses lyrique and Brahms’s Zigeunerlieder; a pause is included. Ruiten, an internationally established artist and recipient of the Elly Ameling Ring (2023), is highlighted for her refined lied artistry, and the notes characterise Brahms’s Zigeunerlieder as extraordinarily cheerful, Debussy’s cycle for its experimental tone colours.
