φψ (PHI PSI) – Everyday Scenes of a Galaxy is a meditative opera entirely created by Maurizio Preziosi, who authored both libretto and score. The project is part of Fondazione Teatro Goldoni’s OPERA OGGI series in Livorno, dedicated to new lyric works, and is produced in collaboration with the Pietro Mascagni Conservatory. Framed as a journey both physical and inner, the piece favors meditative, introspective soundscapes over a traditional narrative. The Greek letters φ (phi) and ψ (psi) replace a conventional title and act as symbolic anchors for the composition and dramaturgy: φ suggests the golden ratio and the Phi phenomenon (two offset static images perceived as continuous motion), while ψ evokes soul, mind, breath, energy, and also pseudogenes—dormant DNA sequences that retain evolutionary information. Conceived as a chamber work for the intimate La Goldonetta space, the production has not yet published artistic credits (direction, conducting, performers, or design team).
