About this event

Verdi’s Macbeth opens the Metropolitan Opera’s 2026–27 season in a new staging by Louisa Proske, co‑founder of Heartbeat Opera, making her Met debut. The Met’s Music Director Yannick Nézet‑Séguin conducts the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra and Chorus (Chorus Director: Tilman Michael). The creative team features Jon Bausor (sets), Montana Levi Blanco (costumes), Adam Silverman (lighting), Jorrell Lawyer‑Jefferson (choreography) and Ran Arthur Braun (fight direction). The production is supported by The Joseph and Robert Cornell Memorial Foundation, Rolex, and the Hermione Foundation (Laura Sloate, Trustee). Müpa Budapest presents the complete Met Live in HD capture from the Saturday 17 October 2026 matinee as an Encore screening in the Festival Theatre, with Hungarian and English subtitles. The cast preserved in the transmission (and thus in this Encore) is Quinn Kelsey (Macbeth), Lise Davidsen (Lady Macbeth), Freddie De Tommaso (Macduff) and Ryan Speedo Green (Banquo).
