This Encore transmission presents the Metropolitan Opera's 2026–27 revival of director Phelim McDermott's staging of Mozart's Così fan tutte, first seen at the Met in 2018. The production shifts the action to a 1950s Coney Island boardwalk amusement park, described as colorful and inventive. Tom Pye's sets create a working midway with rides and attractions, while Improbable's devised-theatre artists add acrobatic and visual elements woven into the stage action. Laura Hopkins's mid-century costumes and Paule Constable's warm, neon-infused lighting complete the seaside atmosphere. Chorus direction is by C. Graham Berwind, III and Tilman Michael. This Met/English National Opera co-production, made in collaboration with Improbable, is conducted in the 2026–27 revival by Nimrod David Pfeffer. At Müpa Budapest's Festival Theatre, the Encore screening features Hungarian and English subtitles.
