Broadway Time – The Great American Music is a jazz quartet concert within the Sunday-morning series “Aperitivo in... Musica” presented by Fondazione Teatro Carlo Coccia in Novara. The project pays tribute to the golden age of New York theatres from the late 19th to the 20th century and to the modern American song repertoire known as the Great American Songbook. The quartet performs music by Cole Porter, George Gershwin, Irving Berlin, and Richard Rodgers, with arrangements that aim for a fresh, contemporary sound while preserving the elegance of jazz tradition. The instrumentation is tenor/soprano saxophone, guitar, double bass, and drums. A short historical introduction (“Storia di Jazz”) by Gianni Lucini opens the event, placing the pieces in context. The Sunday 11:30 setting in the intimate 98-seat Piccolo Coccia supports a close, informal listening experience true to the series’ ‘aperitivo’ spirit.
