“Beethoven and Brahms: The Fourth Symphonies” is Subscription Concert 4 (C4) of the Orquesta Filarmónica de Gran Canaria’s 2026/27 Season. It pairs Beethoven’s Symphony No. 4 in B-flat major, Op. 60 (1806) with Brahms’s Symphony No. 4 in E minor, Op. 98 (1885), conducted by Greek maestro Constantinos Carydis. The evening underscores OFGC’s season-long focus on Beethoven, alongside the Eroica, the Fifth Symphony, the “Emperor” Piano Concerto No. 5, and the Gran Canaria premiere of the Missa Solemnis. Brahms’s Fourth appears among the cycle’s major symphonic cornerstones (Bruckner 5, Prokofiev 5, Rachmaninoff 2, and Dvořák 8). There are no instrumental soloists; the orchestra and conductor take center stage. Expected duration: two hours (20:00–22:00).
