About this event
Presented as part of the Haifa Symphony Orchestra’s 2026–2027 season and its educational “interlaced sounds” series, this concert brings together three Russian voices across eras: Modest Mussorgsky, a Romantic-era nationalist; Dmitri Shostakovich, a Soviet-era modernist; and Vasily Kalinnikov, a late-Romantic symphonist whose First Symphony is rarely programmed today. The evening moves from Mussorgsky’s evocative operatic prelude to a major 20th‑century concerto showcase for pianist Dorel Golan, and culminates in the rediscovery of Kalinnikov’s Symphony No. 1. Amos Talmon conducts the Haifa Symphony Orchestra in all three works. The event is a straight orchestral concert without additional staging.
