Bach Trifft Bach – Magnificat In Der Klosterkirche – Klosterkirche Cottbus, Cottbus

About this event

The concert “Bach Meets Bach” places two Magnificat settings by father and son side by side—same key, same Latin text. Johann Sebastian Bach’s Magnificat in D major (BWV 243) is explicitly confirmed. The concept invites listeners to compare the musical languages of two Bach generations through a shared text and tonal center, highlighting both continuity and contrast. In the Monastery Church (Klosterkirche) in Cottbus, the two choirs of the Singakademie Cottbus perform together with vocal soloists from the Staatstheater and the Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by chorus director Christian Mobius. The event opens the new season’s “Concerts with the Singakademie” series. Advance ticket sales for the 2026/2027 season begin on 15 June 2026 at 11:00.
