Chudahye Chagis is a boundary-defying psychedelic shamanic funk band led by Chu Dahye, a sorikkun (traditional Korean vocalist) whose voice channels the spirit and depth of Korea’s musical heritage. Their distinctive sound fuses ancient muga (Korean shamanic songs and chants) with contemporary influences including reggae, jazz, hip-hop, funk, electronica, and rock. The band invites audiences to make their chagi — a shared, personal experience that transcends genre, time, and tradition. Drawing on muga from the Pyeong’an, Jeju, and Hwanghae Provinces, they craft deep grooves and raw textures for an immersive, theatrical performance that blurs the line between stage and audience, with the voice acting as both instrument and storyteller. The group won the 2021 Best R&B/Soul Song at the 18th Korean Music Awards and is led by former SsingSsing vocalist Chu Dahye.
