About this event

This production adapts Goethe’s Faust into Easy Language to make the classic accessible for people with learning difficulties, non-native speakers, and anyone who struggles with standard German. Director Daniel Cremer and dramaturg Mascha Luttmann created the version; the Easy Language translation is by Daniel Cremer and Tina Lackner. Selected original verses are deliberately set alongside simplified text, creating a dialogue between classical poetry and barrier-free contemporary language. The result is a “Faust about Faust” – reflective, swift, inspired, and metatheatrical. In the intimate Altes Kino Franklin, set and costumes (Carolin Gieszner) and lighting (Wolfgang Schule) shape precise, close-up stage images. Live music by Oscar Marie Le Merle adds an aural layer. Six actors share multiple roles and together embody a chorus-like ‘Nature Spirit’ that links scenes and characters.
