The Café Concert series “Lively Music in the Afternoon” is a long-standing format in the OPAL Foyer of the Nationaltheater Mannheim. For roughly 30 years, the ensemble Salonissimo has been an institution at the theater, recreating the ambience of European coffee houses and salons with live music. Coffee and cake are served to the audience during the afternoon concert. The four musicians of Salonissimo—Wolfram Koloseus, Sorin Strimbeanu, Frank Ringleb, and Michael Steinmann—draw on a virtually inexhaustible repertoire of entertainment music from earlier eras. Performances take place on Saturdays at 14:30, creating an informal, salon-style concert experience in the OPAL Foyer. Tickets are 14.00 EUR and sold through the Nationaltheater Mannheim box office.
