Battle Vivaldi fuses Vivaldi’s Baroque masterworks with contemporary street dance. At its core is a choreographic reimagining of The Four Seasons by Mourad Merzouki and Compagnie Käfig, blending breakdance and hip-hop language with Baroque musical structure. Baroque violinist Julien Chauvin leads and performs with Le Concert de la Loge, aiming to give this well-known score fresh meaning and perspective. In a lively dialogue, Vivaldi’s rhythmic drive meets acrobatic movement—making motion audible and music visible. Alongside The Four Seasons, the program features other Vivaldi works including the Concerto alla Rustica, a concerto for four violins, and a cello sonata. Cécile Trelliuyer’s lighting and Nadine Chabannier’s costumes shape the stage world, while musicians and dancers share the space, dissolving the boundary between concert and dance performance.
