The Hanke Brothers’ family concert “Musical Journey Through Time” takes audiences on a lively tour of music history—from the Big Bang and the Stone Age through the Baroque, Classical, and Romantic eras to New Classical Music and modern beats. The concept was honored with an OPUS KLASSIK award for youth development. Four brothers on five instruments—recorder, tuba, violin, viola, and piano—blend classical, pop, and jazz into a high-energy, no‑intermission format of about 60 minutes. Theatrical touches, humor, a dinosaur mascot, and the motto “no children’s concert without confetti” create strong visuals and interaction—ideal for ages 6–10 and their families. Behind the playful surface lies intensive rehearsal and creative preparation; stage direction is by Christoph Reuter. In Cologne, the concert is part of the Kölner Philharmonie’s family series “Einsteigen, anschnallen, Ohren auf” and is supported by Kuratorium KölnMusik e.V.
