About this event

This concert is the second collaboration between pianist Makoto Ozone and the WDR Big Band after “The Big Band World of Makoto Ozone” in November 2023. For this new edition, Ozone returns with freshly composed pieces and arrangements written specifically for the WDR Big Band. Tagged #groovy, the evening emphasizes groove-oriented jazz. Guest soloist Grégoire Maret on chromatic harmonica adds a distinctive color to the big band palette. The WDR Big Band, one of Europe’s leading jazz ensembles based in Cologne, appears both as the performing ensemble and as the producing organization within the WDR.
