This new staging of Schiller’s The Robbers at Schauspiel Stuttgart is directed by Stefan Pucher with additional texts by writer Thomas Melle. Pucher’s approach incorporates live video design by Tobias Dusche with further video work by Hannes Francke and Ute Schall, weaving multimedia and live camera into the dramatic action. Scenic design is by Nina Peller and costumes by Annabelle Witt, with an original score by Christopher Uhe shaping a multi-sensory theater experience. By introducing Melle’s texts alongside Schiller’s original, the production reframes the 1782 Sturm und Drang drama through a contemporary lens, engaging themes of radicalization, freedom, and generational conflict. Lighting design is by Felix Dreyer and dramaturgy by Katja Prussas. Performed in German with English surtitles, the production is recommended from grade 8 upwards. The premiere takes place on 4 July 2026 at the Schauspielhaus.
