This production is a flamenco tribute to the celebrated Jerez-born composer Manuel Alejandro, conceived and directed by bailaor Juan Andres Maya. Centering on Madrid-born cantaora Mara Rey, whose repertoire spans bulerías, tangos, and rumbas, the show brings a distinctly flamenco lens to Alejandro’s romantic songbook. With artistic direction led by a bailaor, the staging emphasizes rhythmic drive and choreographic presence alongside the voice, blending traditional cante with the lyrical melodies of Alejandro’s music. The project follows the spirit of the compilation “Así cantan por flamenco a Manuel Alejandro,” translating that recording concept into a live theatrical experience. Presented at Sala Chicarreros (Teatro Cajasol) within the “Flamenco Aparte” cycle, and touring to Madrid’s Teatro Calderón and Seville, it signals a fully realized stage proposal.
