Kinderoper In Der Krypta: Nikolo In Wien – Peterskirche, Vienna

About this event

This children’s Singspiel is performed in the Chapel of the Crypt at St. Peter’s Church in Vienna, a normally inaccessible space with a uniquely historic atmosphere (it houses the oldest stone of the church). During Advent, audiences pass through the nativity-scene exhibition in the crypt to reach the chapel, creating a processional arrival experience. The close-up, immersive staging actively involves children, who become part of the action and encounter themes of courage, friendship, and solidarity. The intimate scale and limited seating enable direct interaction between performers and young audiences. Musically, Alice Waginger’s arrangements of classical arias (including Mozart and Humperdinck) are tailored to children aged three and up. The production is part of the “KinderOPER in der KRYPTA” series presented by In höchsten Tönen! Konzertagentur and performed by Ensemble Oper@Tee.
