Concert Voyage En Orient – La Rodia, Besançon

About this event

A concert-restitution showcasing the results of a pedagogical workshop at the Regional Conservatory (CRR) of Grand Besançon Métropole focused on oriental music repertoires. Under the artistic direction of trombonist Robinson Khoury, conservatory students present the outcome of their work, joined by three members of the ensemble Sarāb who provide professional guidance and ensemble support. The concert closes the Mirage d’Orient weekend, a joint cycle by Les 2 Scènes, La Rodia, the CRR and L’Antonnoir, dedicated to new oriental music through talks, a master class, concerts and DJ sets. Khoury’s artistic direction—he also teaches at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague—brings a cross-disciplinary perspective, while Sarāb’s musicians root the performance in contemporary practice. The cycle’s visual identity is by illustrator Jochen Gerner.
