This concert opens ADDA Simfònica Alicante’s 2026–2027 “Naturaleza, Vida & Amor” series under artistic director and principal conductor Josep Vicent. The program frames Tan Dun’s meditative clarinet concerto Three Lotuses in the Zen Garden with Dvořák’s exuberant Carnival Overture and his iconic “New World” Symphony, creating a dialogue between vitality and contemplation. Tan Dun’s work, dedicated to clarinetist Patrick Messina and billed here as a premiere, unfolds across three lotus-inspired movements framed by a Zen prelude. Its stillness and reflective focus counterbalance the festive energy of the Carnival Overture and the sweeping symphonic narrative of the Ninth Symphony.
