About this event

In October 2026, Opera Engiadina presents a Grisons “Hunter Opera” under the patronage of the Grisons Hunters’ Association. Based on Weber’s Der Freischütz, the story is relocated to the Engadin and the life of Gian Marchet Colani. The Wolf’s Glen becomes the Ova da Bernina gorge near Pontresina, and the Hunters’ Chorus is performed in Romansh for the first time. Orchestral arrangement by Ernst Bartmann; scenario by Claudio Danuser and Manfred Ferrari. The production tours to Pontresina, Scuol, Cazis and St. Moritz with dual character naming linking the original and local figures.
