About this event

New production (premiere) of Handel’s Ottone at Oper Frankfurt for the 2026/27 season, staged by director Jetske Mijnssen with sets and costumes by Ben Baur. Václav Luks conducts the Frankfurt Opera and Museum Orchestra. The creative team includes choreographer Dustin Klein, lighting designer Jan Hartmann and dramaturg Mareike Wink. Written for London’s Royal Academy of Music, Ottone belongs to Handel’s early London operas and is noted for its refined, intimate arias with a relatively small orchestra and memorable melodies. Performances take place in the Opernhaus, with German-language introductory talks 30 minutes before each show and an audio introduction released as a podcast after the premiere.
