About this event

Bergen National Opera marks its 20th anniversary with a special evening in two parts: an opera gala of highlights from two decades of productions, followed by George Benjamin’s modern masterpiece Written on Skin. The gala showcases “tomorrow’s opera stars,” alumni of Opera by the Fjord, performing memorable moments from BNO’s history—ranging from bold reimaginings to Norwegian and world premieres. The celebration also honours BNO’s close artistic partnership with the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra and the Edvard Grieg Choirs. In the second half, Katie Mitchell’s acclaimed staging of Written on Skin returns, with Mari Eriksmoen as Agnes, Mark Stone as The Protector, and Alexandre Chance as The Boy, conducted by Lawrence Renes.
