About this event
The 4th Blue Concert in the second edition of “Die Blaue Woche” explores the theme “Proximity & Distance.” Led by Omer Meir Wellber, the Hamburg Philharmonic State Orchestra and the Hamburg State Youth Orchestra perform together in the church of St. Johannis-Harvestehude. The architecture of the nave becomes an active musical element: sounds emerge from different directions, travel through the aisles, overlap, dissolve and reunite. The accordion—named Instrument of the Year 2026—takes center stage; both Omer Meir Wellber and Martynas Levickis perform as accordionists, probing the boundary between closeness and distance. Presented in cooperation with the Hamburg State Youth Orchestra and the Hamburg Music Council, the event brings a professional orchestra together with a youth orchestra. Age recommendation: 10+; total duration approx. 120 minutes.
