This concert is part of La Seine Musicale’s “Les Grandes Œuvres” series, welcoming major orchestras, choirs, and recitals to the Auditorium Patrick Devedjian. The program pairs two Romantic landmarks linked by folk-inspired ideas: Grieg’s Piano Concerto in A minor and Dvořák’s Symphony No. 9 “From the New World.” The title, “From the Great North to the New World,” frames a musical journey from Scandinavia to America. The vineyard-style, 360-degree Auditorium offers an intimate, immersive acoustic for the Orchestre national d’Île-de-France under conductor Eugène Tzigane. Japanese pianist Takuma Ishii appears as soloist in the Grieg, renowned for its passion, lyricism, and Nordic dance inflections, while Dvořák’s symphony—famous for its Largo and Finale—blends epic sweep with nostalgia.
